If you’re an introvert, the idea of those two scenarios probably sounds even worse to you.  Sure, you can suck it up and find a job where you’ll be doing those types of things every day, or you can put some thought into career paths that are right for you.

Webster’s dictionary…for you kids at home a dictionary is a book that has definitions of words…. Webster’s dictionary defines an introvert as:

1: a reserved or shy person who enjoys spending time alone

2: a person characterized by concern primarily with his or her own thoughts and feelings

Now, before we get into the list, here’s a couple things to note:

A.)    Salaries listed are the AVERAGE salaries so you can certainly make more the longer you’re in the career (and you can also make less if you’re in the entry level spot.)

B.)    These jobs are not ranked in any particular order.

C.)    Jobs 1-5 REQUIRE a college degree and jobs 6-10 DO NOT REQUIRE a college degree.

Best Job for Introverts #1: Archivist

Average Salary: $45,000 to $65,000

Minimum Education Required: Unfortunately, you’re going to need A master’s degree, so you’ll need to spend a little more time in school.  You’ll need to get it in either library science, archival studies, or a related field.

Why It's Good for Introverts: Archivists often work by themselves in quiet environments, focusing on organizing and preserving historical records. It’s encouraged and, in many cases required that you limit the amount of people you interact with on a daily basis, which is perfect if you’re an introvert.

Key Skills Employers Are Looking For: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, research abilities, knowledge of archival practices and preservation techniques.

Best Job for Introverts #2: Technical Writer:

Average Salary: $55,000 to $85,000

Minimum Education Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, or a related field.

Why It's Good for Introverts: Technical writers spend a lot of time working alone, creating documentation and user manuals. Many of these roles are remote (depending on the company of course) and most communication can be done through email.

*A note here on Writing Roles: Most writing roles are good for introverts, copywriting, book writing, blogging, etc, but a Technical Writing role has the highest average salary which is why it was technically included on the list (no pun intended). 

Key Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.

Average Salary: $55,000 to $80,000

Minimum Education Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in accounting and it’s highly recommended to get your Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

Why It's Good for Introverts: Once again, many roles can be remote and have limited interaction with other people.  You’ll be spending most of your time analyzing financial statements, preparing reports and generally performing tasks that don’t involve a great deal of collaboration.

Key Skills: Accounting and mathematics, data analysis and comfortable with reviewing financial statements.

Average Salary: $45,000 to $70,000

Minimum Education Requirements: A bachelor's degree in graphic design

Why It's Good for Introverts: Graphic designers usually work independently spending their time creating visual images.  Like most of the other roles on this list, the job can be done remotely and there are many freelance opportunities in addition to full-time roles with companies.
